This concept design is for an office building in a industrial area of Reykjavik. The area is due to be developed in coming years and this project was to analyse the possibilities for a building of this size and function. The site is prominent and therefor it was important to consider the facade as a fundamental element in the design. A pattern is created by using the window settings as an experiment to reflect the diversity of a city and to be a prominent item in an industrial area, if the upcoming development should come to a halt. Large balconies and roof garden, located to capture views, is to encourage office workers to step out for the refreshing nordic breeze and then simultaneously to establish a sense of urbanism within a building. The use of vegetation is an attempt to link nature and urban life – something that is really important for the 21st century city.
